Fragrance of Freedom.

Yesterday Ben gave me a card, at the top of one page he had written:

“Creativity is the fragrance of individual freedom.”

It hit my heart. I have found this to be so true. The past year has been the most incredible year of my life. I decided to dedicate my time to the inside stuff. To my heart. I have never felt more alive, more free, more happy, more real, more true.. and the creativity is just pouring from my Being. Not only in obvious ways (like music), but in all ways.. I try different things, I love change, I don’t stick to a schedule, I break rules on purpose.. Creativity is the best problem-solver too, of so many things!

Creativity is the reason for anything new and fresh. Without creativity, the world is dead. Every person born into the world is a creation, a hope for something new, something that has never been before. Creativity cannot be ‘faked’; you can feel the truth when you experience it. And it’s in everybody.

It can also never be bought, and you cannot bypass a persons’ heart and soul and just take the creative part. You gotta take it all. You gotta give it all. Creativity IS you, and you are creativity. You are one and the same.

I remember when I was younger people would say I was ‘so creative’, and instead of it making me feel good, I felt bad. I felt like a fake. I knew I had so much more within me. While I had moments of inspiration, they were few and far between. I didn’t trust the newness in me. I squashed it down and ignored it. The old was ‘safe’, it had been proven.. (supposedly!). New is risky.. it’s pure me! This belief reflected how little respect I had for creativity.

Creativity is where it’s at. It’s not a matter of whether you’ve got it or you don’t, it’s in everybody. No-body can take it from you. It does however, become more apparent when you are free. Free in your heart.

Be free and creativity will follow.. Let your unique fragrance delight the world around you ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S. One more thing.. I was talking to Ben the other day about something and how I felt ‘old’ (unusual for me). I was saying how I wanted to be the best Sarah Shah, but I don’t want it to take forever. I don’t want to wait until 70 to be amazing.. In other words, I want to be amazing NOW.

Ben looked at me and said, “You know what Baby, no-body looks at a person and says, ‘Wow, they’re 29 and amazing, or they’re 17 or 50 and amazing,’ If you’re amazing Baby, you’re amazing.”

Be You. There is more than enough time ๐Ÿ™‚
